Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 21, 2026
The Colorizer (the “Site,” “The Colorizer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a browser-based color-palette tool available at thecolorizer.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the Site, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
1. The short version
The Colorizer is designed to collect as little information as practical.
- You can use the Site without creating an account.
- The Site does not intentionally collect your name, email address, payment information, or palette history.
- Most palette creation and all ASE, PNG, and CSS exports happen locally in your browser.
- If you use the AI-powered “describe a palette” feature, the text you enter, the number of requested colors, and any locked HEX colors are sent through the Lovable AI Gateway to a Google Gemini model so it can generate a palette.
- We do not intentionally include a user ID, email address, IP address, or palette history in the AI request payload. However, internet service providers necessarily process some technical request data, such as IP addresses, in order to deliver their services.
- Do not enter personal, sensitive, confidential, or proprietary information into the AI prompt.
2. Information processed when you use the Site
A. Information you choose to provide to the AI feature
When you use “describe a palette,” the Site sends only the following application data to the Lovable AI Gateway:
- Prompt: the palette description you type, limited to 200 characters;
- Count: the number of colors requested; and
- Locked HEX values: any colors you have locked and asked the generator to preserve.
The current model used for this feature is Google Gemini 3 Flash, accessed through the Lovable AI Gateway. The model returns HEX color values and a short palette name.
The Colorizer does not intentionally add your name, email address, user ID, IP address, or palette history to this payload. The AI result is returned to your browser and is not stored in a Colorizer account, user profile, or palette database.
Lovable describes its AI Gateway as a pass-through service and states that it does not store raw prompts or responses unless they are explicitly saved in a Lovable workspace. Lovable and the underlying AI provider may still process usage, security, operational, and technical metadata under their own policies and terms.
B. Technical information processed by service providers
When you visit any website, hosting and content-delivery providers receive ordinary network information needed to return the requested page or resource. Depending on the provider, this may include:
- IP address;
- browser and device type;
- operating system;
- requested URL or resource;
- referring URL;
- request date and time;
- error, security, and performance logs; and
- similar connection or diagnostic information.
The Colorizer does not use this information to create user profiles or serve targeted advertising. Lovable and Google may process this information independently for hosting, security, abuse prevention, diagnostics, metering, and operation of their services, as described in their policies.
C. Browser processing and locally generated files
Palette editing and ASE, PNG, and CSS export generation take place in your browser. Export files are downloaded directly to your device. The Colorizer does not upload an export file to a Colorizer server in order to generate it.
Your browser may cache Site assets or retain a downloaded file according to your browser and device settings. You control downloaded files through your own device.
3. How information is used
Information is processed only as needed to:
- load and operate the Site;
- generate a palette in response to an AI prompt;
- preserve locked colors in an AI-generated result;
- generate and download palette exports;
- maintain security and prevent abuse;
- diagnose errors and maintain performance;
- comply with legal obligations; and
- protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the Site, its users, and service providers.
The Colorizer does not use AI prompts to build advertising profiles, does not sell personal information, and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. AI processing
The AI-powered palette-description feature is optional. When you use it, your prompt, requested color count, and locked HEX values are transmitted to:
- the Lovable AI Gateway, which routes the request; and
- Google Gemini, which processes the request and produces the response.
The treatment and retention of request content and technical metadata may depend on the service configuration, billing status, region, safety requirements, and current provider terms. Google’s terms distinguish between paid and unpaid Gemini services and may permit limited logging for safety, abuse prevention, or service operation. Because The Colorizer does not control the providers’ infrastructure or policies, you should not submit personal, sensitive, confidential, regulated, or proprietary information in an AI prompt.
AI-generated output may be inaccurate, unexpected, similar to output generated for someone else, or unsuitable for your intended use. Review each palette before using it.
5. Third-party services
The Site currently relies on the following service providers:
Lovable hosting and edge infrastructure
Lovable hosts and serves the Site and runs the edge function used for the AI Gateway request. Lovable may process technical, operational, security, and usage data under its Privacy Policy.
Lovable AI Gateway
The Lovable AI Gateway routes the optional palette prompt to Google Gemini. Lovable’s policy states that AI Gateway inputs are transmitted to the selected AI provider on a pass-through basis and that raw prompts and responses are not stored by Lovable unless explicitly saved in a workspace. Review Lovable’s Privacy Policy for current details.
Google Gemini
Google Gemini processes the prompt, requested color count, and locked HEX values used by the AI feature. Google may also process technical and usage information under its applicable API terms and privacy documentation. Review the Gemini API Additional Terms, Gemini API data-retention documentation, and Google Privacy Policy.
Google Fonts
The Site requests the Quicksand font from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Your browser connects directly to Google to retrieve the stylesheet and font files. Google therefore necessarily receives your IP address and ordinary request information needed to serve the font. Google states that Google Fonts requests are unauthenticated and that the Google Fonts API does not send cookies. Review Google Fonts’ privacy explanation and the Google Privacy Policy.
Third-party policies and practices may change. The Colorizer does not control these providers’ independent processing.
6. Cookies, analytics, and advertising
At the effective date of this Policy:
- The Colorizer does not intentionally use advertising cookies;
- The Colorizer does not intentionally use third-party behavioral analytics;
- The Colorizer does not serve targeted advertising; and
- Google Fonts states that its font requests are unauthenticated and do not send cookies.
Hosting and security providers may use technically necessary mechanisms or maintain server logs to deliver and protect their services. If we later add analytics, accounts, advertising, or nonessential cookies, we will update this Policy and, where required, provide appropriate notice and consent controls before using them.
7. Data retention
The Colorizer does not maintain an application database of AI prompts, AI responses, user profiles, or palette histories. AI responses are returned to the browser for the current interaction.
Third-party providers may retain technical logs, usage metadata, prompts, or responses for limited periods for security, abuse prevention, billing, diagnostics, legal compliance, or other purposes described in their policies and terms. Their retention practices are controlled by those providers, not by The Colorizer.
Locally downloaded exports remain on your device until you delete them.
8. Disclosure of information
We may disclose information only:
- to the service providers identified in this Policy as needed to operate the Site;
- when required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
- to investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our Terms of Use;
- to protect the rights, property, safety, or integrity of The Colorizer, its users, or others; or
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the Site, subject to appropriate notice and legal requirements.
We do not sell personal information.
9. International processing
Lovable and Google operate globally. Information processed through their services may be transferred to or processed in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Each provider is responsible for the safeguards it describes in its applicable policy and contractual documentation.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to the processing of personal information, or to receive a portable copy. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or complain to a data-protection authority.
Because The Colorizer does not maintain user accounts, palette histories, or an application database of AI prompts, we may have little or no information that can be linked back to you. Technical information held independently by Lovable or Google is subject to the request procedures in their respective privacy policies.
To ask a privacy question or make a request relating to information controlled by The Colorizer, contact hello@learningbydesign.co. We may need enough information to understand and verify the request, but we will not ask you to provide more personal information than is reasonably necessary.
11. U.S. state privacy disclosures
Where an applicable U.S. state privacy law applies, categories of information that may be processed in connection with the Site can include:
- Identifiers and network data, such as an IP address processed by hosting or content providers;
- Internet or electronic activity, such as requests, browser information, timestamps, security events, and interactions with Site features; and
- User-provided content, consisting of an optional palette prompt and locked HEX values.
These categories are used for the operational purposes described in this Policy. The Colorizer does not sell these categories or share them for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly use or disclose sensitive personal information. Please do not enter sensitive personal information into an AI prompt.
12. Children and age restrictions
The Site and its AI feature are intended for adults and are not directed to children. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If you believe a person under 18 has submitted personal information through the Site, contact hello@learningbydesign.co so we can evaluate the request and take appropriate action.
13. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS. Exports are generated locally in the browser, and the Site is designed not to collect or store sensitive personal data.
No internet transmission, browser application, or third-party service is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security or uninterrupted availability. Do not submit sensitive, confidential, or proprietary information through the AI feature.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Site, providers, or legal requirements change. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through a prominent notice on the Site when appropriate.
